Classic Profiles is housed at Shop 89, Gold Reef City, Ormonde, Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa.
Classic Profiles was officially started in Gold Reef City in 1992 and is engaged in the manufacture of all types of cases and displays for collectors’ items, heirlooms and the like, particularly specialising in the casing and displaying, in many forms, of custom knives. The majority of value is exported, but some of the major South African collectors are amongst our clients.
We work mainly in the South African (and African) indigenous hardwoods and our services include bespoke, hand-crafted, uniquely tailored cases for heirlooms or collectors’ items, ranging from the smallest to the largest, i.e. diamonds to shot guns, both presentation and working, utilising indigenous and exotic woods and nature’s own materials where appropriate, for example, ivory, gems, animal teeth, etc; cigar humidors with various embellishments, carved, painted, pyrography, your logo and many others; special corporate gifts, custom trophies, ophthalmic lens trays which are exported to Germany (Schwind), gold leafing, especially on genuine walnuts which have been hinged and made into small cases; speciality clocks, mantelpiece, free standing, grandfather, granddaughter with gongs or chimes. (These can be manufactured to compliment your décor.)
Some of the work undertaken in the past, has been the encasing of such items as collectors’ knives, parts of the Berlin Wall, antique clay pigeons, cuff links, pens, thimbles, antique tea sets, first article of manufacturers and factories; we have carried out horse carriage repairs, manufactured wine bottle holders, normally crafted from railway sleepers, incorporating inlaid emblems and logos, gun stocks, butts and handles; cutlery cases, desk accessories, smoking accessories, folding wooden baskets, mementoes, cases for liquor bottle and glasses, cases resembling books or logs, cases for jewellery, fishing, needlework – some with hidden drawers; various game boards, including, chess, backgammon and many others. We are able to manufacture to your specification.
