Garry Lombard
I am Garry Lombard and I reside in Randburg, a suburb of Johannesburg, South Africa.
I was accepted as a full voting member of the Knifemakers Guild Of Southern Africa in 1983.
I subsequently served on the Guild Executive Committee for nine years, and additionally as Chairman of the Guild for 1999-2001 and organiser of the annual Guild Knife Show for 1999-2001 and 2005.
In official retirement since 2000 I continue the pleasurable hobby but are concentrating on folders only.
I mainly make knives for pleasure and time occupation in my retirement and as such I do not take orders as Ia general rule.
I mainly use Damasteel from Sweden and Friedrich Schneider stainless damascus and ATS-34 steel to ensure top quality blades. Heat treatment and up to triple SUB-ZERO quenching in liquid nitrogen is done by myself to enhance quality.
Handle materials are mainly fossils (mammoth & walrus) and local ivories, pearl, shell.
Fittings are mostly titanium and/or stainless steel (Titanium coloured by electrolysis and stainless by a unique specialized Stainless colouring process) and mosaic & stainless damascus steels.
