I started to make knives in 1994 when I first met Kevin Harvey. Kevin taught me the basics of design, hollow ginding, taper tangs and all the rest. From there it was a bit a slow road for me playing arround and not really geting stuck into mastering my techniques and methods. Some where along the way I met Heather Harvey (who at the time was not married to Kevin) who got me very interested in forging and black smithing. I left my current job at a wood craftsman and became a woodwork teacher at the Michael Mount Waldorf School, it was there that I had some spare time and my own classroom (workshop) that I spent may hours having fun with grinding blades and also forging blades. It was at my time at the school that I submitted my work for evaluatioin to the Guild. I was as happy as punch to find out that they had accepted me into the ranks of the masters. It was only 3 years later when I decided to resign my job and start my own company making custom furniture and upmarket kitchens. Unfornutatly with starting a new buisness the time has not been allowed to indulge myself in one of the things I love to do, and that is making knives. Well it is 3 years down the line now (end 2003) and the company is finally starting to be self sufficient, which means that very soon I will be back with avengance.
