Gawie Herbst
  Gawie was hobbyist knifemaker since 1989 and became a ful-time knifemaker since 1998. He became a Guild member in 2001.

He was the first knifemaker to master and employ decorative laser-cutting through blades to present the big-five, Africa and other game. Gawie is recognised for large game scene etching and scrimshaw.

Gawie builds fixed blades, folders, knife-sets, knife-making machines and presents training courses monthly.

To date he has been awarded 8 "Certificates of Excellence" for individual knives exhibited at shows as well as the Nick Grabe Trophy for "The Best New Knifemaker" during the Guilds Annual Exhibition in 2001.
