Werner Fourie
I was born on 29 October 1972. I am a Christian and as far as I can remember, I have always had a love for knives.

In 1985, I first thought of making a knife. I saw a movie: “The Iron mistress”, it sketched the surroundings in which the “Bowie knife” was developed. This was my first encounter with knife-making. The next day I began making a knife, using a bar of mild steel. The fire wasn’t hot enough and/or my arm was not strong enough. Needless to say, my attempts did not greatly succeed! I stopped trying to forge a knife and went ahead, shaping the metal with files. After days of hard work I ended up with a knife, of which I was very proud.

On the 23 of March 1995 I had a motorcar accident, +/- 2 km. from my parent’s farm, at the crossing of the Molotto Road and Maroela Road. I would have died inside my car, since my heart stopped beating and I stopped breathing. Had it not been for a police officer, he arrived a few moments after the accident happened, on the accident scene. He gave me CPR trough the broken, driver’s seat window, until an ambulance arrived. They cut me out of my car and rushed me to HF Verwoerd Hospital, in Pretoria. I was left like a newly born baby, after 22 days in a coma; I had to learn EVERY thing again and again… (For instance: How to swallow, sit, walk, speak etc.). The recovery process has been long and arduous and is still ongoing. God has miraculously brought me back to life and kept me alive, praised be His name!

I grew up in Namibia and South Africa. I am a qualified master Goldsmith. I’ve also studied three years of Visual Arts, along with two years of Graphic Design. I give credit for all that I am and can do, to the Lord, God. My knives are made well. I make any kind of knife, from practical folders to elegant display pieces. My intentions are honest and I serve my customers to the best of my abilities.
