Rob Brown
Born and raised in South Africa within casting distance of the Indian Ocean, I developed a great love for the outdoors. The bushveld, rivers and ocean, with all the game that abounds there, formed an integral part of my life.

On completion of my formal education I pursued a career as an architectural assistant which appealed to my interest in design and practical hands-on approach.

Always the keen hobbiest - in 1985 I was custom building fishing rods to support my other outdoor interests when the need arose for a good working hunter. Armed with the book, "How to make Knives" by Bob Loveless, I was introduced to a world of knives far bigger than I could ever have imagined.

I became a member of the Knifemaker's Guild of Southern Africa in October 1986 and by the end of 1988 took up knifemaking as a full-time occupation - the bug had truly bitten at that stage.

To date I have been awarded 39 "Certificates of Excellence" for individual knives exhibited at the annual shows and "Best Overall Knifemaker" on 5 separate occasions.

I work from a one man shop (with a good view of the ocean) building knives to order, one at a time. My aim is to produce a wide variety of investor class, quality fixed blade knives for the collector and discerning user, and as such continually strive for the highest degree of craftsmanship possible.
